The college was established by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. B.D. Jatti. The institute was founded in the year 1958. Veterinary College, Bangalore is a part of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU). It was initially affiliated to Mysore University. In the year 1965, the college became the constituent college of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, under trimester system of education in lines with land-grant system of education. The institute is situated on 75 acres plot, which was inaugurated by His Highness The Maharaja Shri Jaya Chamarajendra Wodeyar, the Governor of Karnataka in 1962. The college focuses on making veterinary education responsive towards the growing needs of the society in general and aspirations of the livestock farmers in particular. It strives hard to produce highly skilled and competent manpower to meet the needs of the changing society. The institute has produced number of graduates and post graduates, who were and are working around the world in different capacities. Students from different parts of the country as well as the world have passed out from this institution. You will find students from various countries in this institute, including students from USA, Canada, Malaysia, Iran, Iraq, Ghana, Mauritius, Nigeria, Somalia, Uganda, Fiji Islands, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bahrain.
